Crocheting A Sweater
I have finally chose my first pattern for 2020 to create my first article or handmade clothing. One of my goals for 2020 was to make more of my own clothing.
I wanted to crochet at least 3 sweaters (which is know is a lot). I have only ever made 1 sweater and that was when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and had 7 days of sitting on a couch in pain binge watching television. I completed the sweater in 6 days so I set the bar a little high for myself.
I decided that I should choose a bulky sweater pattern, in hopes that I would be able to finish it quickly but also it is the winter and by the time the sweater is completed it will be colder out and I will have more of a reason to wear it! The pattern I chose was actually off of Michaels. Did you know they had patterns? Well they do and it is magical! I chose the Caron Tea Cake Stepping Stripes Crochet Pullover Pattern. I loved that the yarn was veregrated and that it would create the stripes on its own. The pattern also uses the same crochet stitch all throughout which makes it so easy and fun!
The pattern called for Tea Cakes but when I got to the store they did not have any Tea Cakes so I chose the next best thing. The Chunky Cakes is the same weight and the same amount of stitches per 4” so it was an easy choice. I decided to use yarn that was mainly neutral colors which is just perfect for me!
I am currently working on the front body of the sweater and I am about halfway completed with it. I will be posting weekly updates about this sweater!
