DIY Soft Pretzel Mini Pillow

I am a New Yorker which means I have to be a lover of soft pretzels. Moving to Boston, there are less opportunity for a soft pretzel at any moment. See as it was Mardi Gras the other day you can say that I have had them on my mind lately and really just want to eat one (I should maybe check my freezer and see if I have a frozen one in there). They really have always been my favorite food and pillows are my favorite home decor! I wanted to make all my dreams come true and so I decided to make a mini pretzel pillow that way I will never be without a pretzel (with pom pom salt of course)!

Supplies:

-1/2 yard of tan cozy fleece fabric or felt (whatever floats your boat)

-Mini white pom poms

-Poly-fill stuffing

-Hot glue

-Fabric scissors

-Ruler

-Needle and Thread

-Sewing Machine (Optional)

Step One: Start by folding the fabric or felt in half that way it is doubled over into two layers. Using your ruler and fabric scissors to cut a 2” wide by 20” long strip of fabric. After you cut your strips round the edges of your strip.

Step Two: Using a sewing machine or by hand, sew all the way around the edge of your pretzel with a 1/4” seam allowance and make sure to leave a 2” gap at the bottom that way you can turn the right side out through the hole.

Step Three: Once you are completed sewing, patiently turn your pretzel right side out (you should be able to use a wooden spoon to help here, make sure it is round a square edge could rip the seam).

Step Four: Now that your pretzel is the right side out, stuff with Poly-Fil through the hole until your pretzel has a nice full “log” shape. You may need to use the spoon again to help get the fill throughout the pretzel. Hand sew the opening closed with a hidden stitch.

Step Five: Once your pretzel is stuffed, fold it into the classic shape that we all know and love! Use your needle and thread to tack the ends of the pretzel rods into place creating the nubs of the pretzel (my favorite part!)

Step Six: For “salt” topping use mini white pom poms and place them on the pretzel so you know where to glue them into place. Using a hot glue gun or fabric glue (whatever you have on hand) glue the poms into place.

So cute and so yummy (yes, I did eat pretzels while making this). I know that normally salt is much smaller than these white pom poms so if you would prefer to use white or clear sea beads and place them in a cluster that would be great too! I personally love pom poms so I was itching to use some. I am planning to send a pretzel to my pretzel twin aka my sister who loves pretzels maybe more than me. It is of course to make her think of me when she sees it but also hungry every time as well. Totally worth it! Enjoy fellow Homebodies XOXO
