The Greatest Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
So, do you remember that Friends episode where Phoebe tells Monica that her Grandmother made the greatest chocolate chip cookies which then sends Monica into a tail spin where she needs to figure out the greatest cookie recipe? By the end of the episode we as the viewer (and Monica) come to find out that this amazing recipe is the Nestle Toll House Cookie recipe.
I can imagine that people who watched that episode wondered if those were indeed the best cookies. Well I am here to tell you that THEY ARE! It blows my mind to know that it is true and that a recipe from the back of a package of chocolate chips can really be that good!
I am no bakery blog, but what I can tell you is that baking at home can save you lots of money and you can also eat very warm and straight out of the oven cookies.
WHAT MAKES THESE GREAT?
So, it is totally great to love to bake all day long and be covered in flour, but when it comes to baking for multiple days to get an outcome for one recipe that is a bit of where I draw the line. I think this is why I have struggled so much with making ice cream because I have freeze the bowl first and that step is hard for me. Mainly because I don’t get the inkling to eat ice cream 48 hours in advance of eating it. I want to eat it in that moment. I feel the same way about baked goods. That is why I am so into these cookies, because there is not waiting, there is only eating!
HOW DO YOU MAKE THEM?
I could easily tell you to just follow the back of the bag and there it goes for the best recipe. But I would be lying if I told you that I have not made my own adjustments. To be honest, I am not the only one who has made adjustments. Some people prefer less sugar and some really just would rather use dark chocolate or semi sweet. Some might even enjoy adding walnuts to the cookies or even salt flake!
WHY I HAVE MADE CHANGES I HAVE MADE
There are some changes that I have made to the recipe just because I like specific things and I often have more of some stuff in my pantry than other things. I like to put some bread flour into the cookies, There is something about it that make the cookies a little bit thicker and more of a good time. I like a cookie that is kind of like a cake. I think that is just me though, if you like regular cookies you can use only all purpose! I also prefer brown sugar as opposed to white sugar. I feel like the brown sugar gives me more of that bakery like moment that I am always craving. Lastly, when it comes to chocolate I am a regular milk mixed with a semi- sweet! It gives things an extra twang. Also, sometimes I like to use mini chips like baby size ones because it just makes for a cuter cookie!
HERE’S MY RECIPE

2 cups- all purpose flour
1/4 cup- bread flour

1 cup of brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup semi sweet morsels
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt into a small bowl. Set aside
3. Beat butter, sugar and vanilla extract into a larger bowl until creamy.
4. Add one egg at a time beating well into the wet mixture after each addition. Mix until well incorporated
5. Mix the chips and morsels.
6. Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until incorporated
7. Drop large heaping scoops onto an ungreased baking pan or cookie sheet. Sometimes I like to add sprinkles or a little bit more of salt on top of the cookies.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges or golden brown.
9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before you remove them from the sheet and place them on a cooling rack (if you do not have a cooking rack- I like to use one of the racks from the toaster oven!)
There you go! The greatest cookies of all times. Once you start backing them, you will never be able to stop. Get ready to enjoy deliciously!
